Tony Clement
Politician.

“Winners never quit, and quitters never win”

That is how Tony Clement views his fights in his career and life inside Canadian politics and personal struggles. In this episode of “Learn from Leaders” I sit down with Tony Clement he is a former Canadian former federal politician and former Member of Parliament for Parry Sound—Muskoka in Ontario. Tony’s life has been defined through his early interest in politics and his views on free will and choices. Describing what life was like for him at a young age with passing out flyers for election time and making himself involved with student government, the seeds for his future were being laid. His study of law only further opened his eyes to the type of work that he would want to be involved in with politics and the understanding of the system of governance that he appreciated. He might have lost his first race in 1994 for a municipal office in Toronto, but then tried again for the Ontario legislature in 1995 and won, beginning his illustrious career as a politician. He has been put in some of the most important positions during the most turbulent times Canada has seen, such as Minister of health and long-term care during the SARS outbreak and Minister of Industry during the 2008 financial crisis. In both of these positions he proved to not only fix the problems that were occurring, but to leave things better than they were. It is no surprise that one of his favorite quotes comes from one of the greatest heavy weight fighters of all time, Mike Tyson “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.” It seems that in life Tony does not back down from a fight or from tough situations he puts value in his work.
